#WomenIveNeverMetWhoMoveMe is a type of #wcw that I tried out a while ago to much personal enjoyment. Every other Wednesday I recognise the badass bold and beautiful women (real or fiction, known to me and strangers) who inspire me while putting my adjective game to the test.
Janelle Monae is my favourite artist. Not because I love her voice, style, attitude or music which I do (reminder: I never claimed she was my favourite singer). As such, my inaugural Artist Spotlight belongs to her. This one is not a profile, plug or attempt to convert you. I’m just going to try to show her to you as I see her: f*#king brilliant.
I like mildly boring sometimes practical interestingly-made (often brown) cute shoes. We’re going to take a walk through my shoe (closet) and true to form, this is not a fashion Non-Blog.
This second edition is a throwback. As always the objective is clear: platonic friendships can be formative and meaningful and deserve more than the secondary (or placeholder) position that they tend to occupy. Every other week I attempt to undo this injustice one anonymous letter at a time.

I say this all the time: my close friends are the great loves of my life. I have and will experience other loves in this life: magical irreplaceable experiences much like my friendships. I think our collective relegation of platonic friendships to secondary status is a mistake. Here I do my bit to undo some of that damage one anonymous letter at a time.

It might be a fools errand to try and explain why a health professional vilified for sleeping strikes a chord with so many of us. For me it exposes a false dichotomy and a suspicion I have about public perception. In any case, I’ve never not been called a fool so here we go.
I’m a disappointing athlete.
I’m (thankfully) built well enough to try anything but not for any particular physical excellence. I’m not very fast, naturally thick (though I lose muscle quickly). I have knock knees and am graceless at best.
